How does it work?

A hybrid drive consists of 3 devices working together – an electric motor, an internal combustion engine and a battery pack. When braking and decelerating, the engine recovers energy that can be retained for use later on. The internal combustion engine is turned off as long as the batteries are charged. If they are not, the internal combustion engine turns on to run a generator that powers the electric motor.

As you can see, fuel consumption is limited to a minimum. Hybrid cars typically use the electric motor when travelling at low speeds – mainly when driving around cities. On the other hand, they usually switch to the combustion engine when driving on motorways.

This is when the LPG system comes into play.

Converting your hybrid car to run on LPG

The process of converting a petrol engine in a hybrid drive system to run on LPG is generally the same as in a regular petrol car. A particularly simple, naturally aspirated petrol engine with indirect injection is ideal for a gas installation, but modern hybrid engines with direct dual injection also often visit LPG workshops.

Contrary to appearances, converting a hybrid to autogas is quite an easy procedure. However, it should be carried out by an experienced installer, and the gas system should be a properly matched and configured set from one manufacturer.

Lower car operating costs

Installing a gas system in a hybrid car allows for additional savings. It offers real benefits even with low mileage and also applies to small, compact hybrid cars. In such a situation, the combustion engine will still be the main source of propulsion, but in addition to gasoline, the vehicle will be additionally powered by autogas, which is much cheaper than gasoline. Therefore, the return on investment in the installation is guaranteed and its date depends only on the number of kilometers traveled.

Up to +400 km more on one refueling

Thanks to such a “hybrid of a hybrid”, traveling 100 kilometers becomes surprisingly cheap. In addition, we should add how much the vehicle’s range increases – by up to 300-400 kilometers on one refueling, while maintaining full trunk space!

Clean Air

Combustion of autogas generates 20% less carbon compounds than gasoline, which means that powering a hybrid car with LPG helps reduce CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. Moreover, autogas does not produce sulfur or lead compounds, and the emission of nitrogen compounds when combustion of LPG is over 20 times lower than in the case of combustion of diesel oil or gasoline. These statistics show that a hybrid car with additional gas power is an extremely beneficial solution for the natural environment.
